Introduced to South Africa by the Malays about a century ago, atchar is a condiment served alongside many curry dishes but not exclusively and sometimes eaten just with bread. Prepared in the summer months and matured by being exposed to sunlight for up to two weeks while maturing. The high concentrations of salt, oil, and spices act as preservatives.

The apricots in our Apricot Atchar are grown on the Wickedfood Earth Farm where we bottle all excess fruit and vegetables at the peak of their ripeness. All our fruit and vegetables are grown along organic lines free of insecticides, fertilizers or any other poisons. Our Apricot Atchar is one of many of the wide range of preserves, jams, chutneys, relishes, sauces, and bottled fruit we hand-make.
