Wickedfood Earth Country Cooking School

Wickedfood Earth Country Cooking School has developed 2 exciting and very different Christmas menus exclusively for groups, based around seasonal ingredients. Once all the food is cooked, participants sit down and enjoy the food they have prepared, a great way of staff interaction. Book early to avoid disappointment, as dates towards the end of the year are already filling up fast. (Subject to our general terms and conditions, below.)

Classes are subject to a minimum of 10 people at Wickedfood Earth Country Cooking School. We can accommodate up to 40 people of between 6 and 12 people per cooking station (see terms below), each station cooking the same dishes. An added advantage is that due to the nature of our hands-on classes, participants never feel threatened or moved outside their comfort zone, while having a lot of fun. Every person gets to participate in the preparation of the dishes. (Subject to our general terms and conditions, below.)

 

Class format

Classes run any time during the day, at the client’s convenience, from ±09h00 onwards. While at Wickedfood Earth, clients have the exclusive use of the facilities, for either a half day (up to 4 hours, cooking class only) or a full day (up to 8 hours, cooking class and use of the lecture room). Our lecture room is fully fitted out and can seat up to 40 people comfortably.

At Wickedfood Earth Country Cooking School we offer a very unique experience. All food is locally sourced, either from Wickedfood Earth itself, or from surrounding farms. All food used, apart from our Halaal chicken, is grown along organic principles.

 

What is included in the price?

  • Extensive notes and recipes;
  • All ingredients and a the use of an apron to wear while cooking (with enough lead-in time we can supply aprons for students to take home with them @ R100 per apron);
  • Teas, coffees and farm-made natural juices, as well as muffins on arrival;
  • Limited red and white house wines with the meal at the end of cooking. (Due to the distance that clients have to travel we ask that they be responsible with regards to the consumption of alcohol.)
  • The meal. Bring only your enthusiasm and willingness to learn and have fun.
  • Light meal for clients who opt for the full day programme.
  • It is strongly recommended that participants come comfortably dressed, preferably in T-shirts, jeans and non-slip gym shoes.

 

The menus

Festive Christmas Lunch

(Code WFEX 3/1 – R 495pp excluding VAT)

For this menu, participants get involved in the total preparation of the meal, which will take approximately 2½ hours, before they sit down to enjoy the fruits of their labour.

  • Starter platter – fresh Asian spring rolls, and crostinis with 2 different toppings
  • Cold leek and potato soup  – perfect for hot weather.
  • Roasted chickens – cooked on the kettlebraai to add a unique smoky flavour, served with mushroom, mustard, cream sauce.
  • Roast potatoes – we give you tips on making the best ever no-fuss crispy roast potatoes.
  • Seasonal vegetables – a selection of organically grown summer vegetables.
  • Berry pavlova  – our interpretation of this classic dessert, with fresh organic berries and organic double cream.

Festive Country Lunch

(Code WFEX 3/2 – R 495pp excluding VAT)

Come spend a few hours in the country with Wickedfood Earth and enjoy a scrumptious festive lunch, the major elements of which we will have prepared ahead of time. On arrival, participants will spend approximately one hour assembling the meal, prior to sitting down and enjoying the feast. Included in the meal will be:

  • Starter platter – of at least 3 different snacks.
  • Cold soup  – perfect for hot weather.
  • Roasted meat (a choice of chicken, pork, beef or lamb, the pricing surcharge below*) – cooked on the kettlebraai to add a unique smoky flavour, served with mushroom, mustard, cream sauce.
  • Roast potatoes and Seasonal vegetables – a selection of organically grown summer vegetables.
  • Berry pavlova  – our interpretation of this classic dessert, with fresh organic berries and organic double cream.

 

* There is no surcharge for chicken or pork. For beef add R120 and R300 for lamb, per 10 participants. For halaal chicken or vegetarian, please give at least 7 working days’ notice.
