Peach and Brandy Jam

R55.00

Peaches were cultivated in China as far back as 8,000 years ago and are still a firm favourite around the world in summer. Since being introduced to South Africa nearly 400 years ago they have become part of our culinary heritage with a number of varieties especially developed for our local conditions. The yellow-fleshed peaches have an acidic tang coupled with a sweet floral taste, perfect balance of flavour for jam and preserves. At Wickedfood Earth Farm we grow a few of the older varieties which are perfect for jam and brandy making. We have made a very special jam combining these two products into a unique jam.

Description

The Peach and Brandy Jam is made from the Wickedfood Earth Farm food gardens and orchards which are planted with a wide variety of heirloom vegetables and herbs, and the extensive orchards have over 50 varieties of fruit and nut trees and berries. The Wickedfood Earth Farm food gardens are internationally recognized by Slow Food as an important educational garden. At Wickedfood Earth Country Cooking School we bottle all excess fruit and vegetables at the peak of their ripeness. All our fruit and vegetables are grown along organic lines, free of insecticides, fertilizers, or any other poisons. We hand-make small batches of a wide range of preservative-free preserves, jams, chutneys, relishes, sauces, and bottled fruit. This ensures that we do not need to over-process this Peach and Brandy Jam, which results in concentrated, natural flavours.
