Mulled apple cider
A mulled cider is a beverage made with apples cider, various mulling spices and raisins also sometimes refereed to as cider Glühwein. It is served hot or warm and may be alcoholic or non-alcoholic (apple juice). It is a traditional drunk during winter. We recently made a delicious mulled cider as a welcome drink for our winter pop-up restaurant. It went down a treat with most people asking for a 2nd glass.
2 quarts apple cider
2 cinnamon sticks
2 whole allspice berries
2 whole cloves
1 orange, thinly sliced
Place all ingredients in a large saucepan and bring to a simmer on a medium heat and reduce to low heat once it is boiling. Let simmer on a low heat for about an hour so the spices can infuse. Divide among individual mugs and serve hot.
