Peach Atchar

Introduced to South Africa by the Malays about a century ago, atchar is a condiment served alongside many curry dishes but not exclusively and sometimes eaten just with bread. Prepared in the summer months and matured by exposing to sunlight for up to two weeks while maturing. The high concentrations of salt, oil, and spices act as preservatives.

Description

This Peach Atchar is made at Wickedfood Earth Farm, where we bottle all excess fruit and vegetables at the peak of their ripeness. All our fruit and vegetables are grown along organic lines free of insecticides, fertilizers, or any other poisons. We hand-make this Peach Atchar as well as a wide range of other preserves, jams, chutneys, relishes, sauces, and bottled fruit.
