Green Tomato Jam


We grow over 10 different varieties of organic heirloom tomatoes. At the end of the growing season, we collect all the remaining green fruit and process it into this delicious Jam. For the syrup, we use sugar, grape vinegar, spices and a bit of chilli. This is a chunky jam, great on a strong cheese and cold meat sandwich – smoked chicken or snoek, lamb or roast beef.

Our Green Tomato Jam is made using fruit from the Wickedfood Earth Farm food gardens and orchards which are planted with a wide variety of heirloom vegetables & herbs, and the extensive orchards have over 50 varieties of fruit & nut trees, and berries. These food gardens are internationally recognized by Slow Food as an important educational garden. At Wickedfood Earth Country Cooking School we bottle all excess fruit and vegetables at the peak of their ripeness. All our fruit and vegetables are grown along organic lines, free of insecticides, fertilizers or any other poisons. We hand make small batches of a wide range of preservative-free preserves, jams, chutneys, relishes, sauces & bottled fruit. This ensures that we do not need to over-process, which results in concentrated, natural flavours which you can taste in our Green Tomato Jam.

Serving Suggestions

  • Serve on the side with chicken liver pâté, pork terrine or pork pies
  • Delicious with a selection of cheeses and cold meats for an alfresco light lunch with a simple salad – toss some chunks of the jam into the salad as well;
  • Add to hamburgers with caramelized onion for a bit of zing.
