MoVida
Chef/restaurateur/cookbook author Frank Camorra was born in Barcelona and spent his first 5 years in Andalusia, before his parents migrated to Australia. In the year 2000, Frank travelled throughout Spain and was inspired by both the modern and traditional aspects of Spanish cuisine which he discovered. Returning to Australia, Frank was determined to share his inspiration. At his restaurant, MoVida, he brings the tastes of his homeland to his adopted country.
In 2007 he captured many of these recipes into his first cookbook on Spanish food, MoVida: Spanish Culinary Adventures. The delicious recipes together with inspiring information on Spanish ingredients, cooking methods and culinary traditions, captures the essence and exuberance of Spanish cuisine.
Apart from the staples of paella, tortilla and gazpacho, The book also has some real hidden gems. From the tapas section, try ham and egg croquettes, or Sherry pastries filled with tuna. Now that summer is fast approaching what could be nicer than a chilled almond soup with grape granita, or fresh mussels with leek and potato. And for main course, what about roast pork belly with quince aioli, or grilled salt cod salad with orange, parsley and smoked paprika.
For anyone with an interest in Spanish cooking, this book is a definite must. At Wickedfood Cooking School we will definitely be using it for inspiration in our Spanish cooking classes.

Wickedfood Cooking School runs cooking classes throughout the year at its purpose-built Johannesburg cooking studio. Cookery classes are run in the mornings and evenings 7 days a week (subject to a minimum of 12 people). The venue is also popular for corporate events and private functions – teambuilding cooking classes, birthdays, kitchen teas, and dinner parties with a difference. Our cooking lessons are hands-on, where every person gets to participate in the preparation of the dishes. They are also a lot of fun where you not only learn new skills, but get to meet people with similar interests. For corporate groups and team building cooking classes these events are a novel way of creating staff interaction or entertaining clients.
