Christmas is a time for giving and what better way to get into the spirit than with a gift of home-made Christmas biscuits. Making biscuits for Christmas is a strong tradition, especially in Northern Europe. This is a tradition that Wickedfood Cooking School’s directors grew up with, making Christmas biscuits every Christmas. In this Christmas biscuit-making workshop we will teach you how to bake four of the tastiest biscuits we know, recipes that have been passed down for over five generations – Basler Leckerle, Cinnamon Stars, Butterbackens, and Florentines. Although the biscuits are not cheap to make, the various shapes, flavours, colours and textures make them ideal gifts, especially when packaged in decorative boxes, or antique tins.

This Christmas biscuit-making workshop is limited to a maximum of 8 people for personal attention. Working in groups of 2, each group will get to make ±100 of each of the four biscuits. This means that you will get to take home around 200 biscuits, as well as learning wicked new skills. This is a full day workshop, and includes snacks and refreshments as well as a light lunch.

The programme for the day is as follows:

  • 9:00am – Tea, coffee, fruit juice and eats on arrival and during the workshop;
  • 9:30am – Introduction;
  • A practical hands-on demonstration on how to make each biscuit;
  • Mix, bake and decorate/ice each of the 4 biscuits
  • Sit down to enjoy a light lunch.
